Inspiring Design in Energy Saving Building

Council House 2 (CH2) building in Melbourne, Australia is office building for government staff, has ten floor, and underground floor for parking place.

CH2 use solar energy for 24 hours, natural lighting, air, and rain water usage to energy resource. North side of building has 10 air channels in dark colors which absorb sun heat, has function to move musty air. At south side, there are light colors of air channel which throwed in fresh air and distribute it in all of building part. At south side of building there is windows cover decoration, made from recycle wood, can be shift appropriate with sun position.

Energy consumption of this building is 35 kWh/m2/year. If it comparing with old council building (CH1), energy usage can be save until 82%, gas consumption decrease until 87%, water consumption decrease until 72%.
