Coast Flying Rotating Residence

Consist of studio pavilion and main house, use as retreat residence. The house looks nothing like a house, but rather an object flying in from space and rotating along its long axis as it about to land. The house is a dynamic enigma in the windswept setting. The principal two storey house is located to enjoy expansive ocean views from the top of very steep in the middle of a golf course. The orthogonal black form is very clear and simple, but there is something odd to it. The box tube is twisted in section, the cladding raked, the lower windows cranked and the chimney emerging from the wall is on the diagonal.

Located south of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, this residence designed by Denton Corker Marshall Architects. The studio is further extrusion of the tube, positioned directly opposite the rear entrance of the earlier building across the north-facing concrete paved courtyard. A long concrete bench, set at an oblique angle, separates the two.
