This house renovated intended to create better connectivity between interior and exterior. Enhanced connections make living spaces more spacious and attractive to look. And the cozy atmosphere reached. The result is open plan rooms with many exterior features which make dweller feel so homy in the house. Although external, it was conceived as a second hallway that would connect the Living spaces and also house Art, Sculpture and a Water Feature.
The ubiquitous side alley of the house, previously unutilized, was central to this investigation. This space that previously grew weeds was re-interpreted to enable an external extension & connection of the Living spaces via visual, textural and aural links. It in effect also increased the perception of the size of the house. The client, a couple with a keen interest in art & design were sceptical at first at the suggestion that this side alley was to become the central display piece of the home. Designed by Matt Gibson.
