Complete Renovation of 1870′s Two Story Single Family House

This vintage house built in 1870’s, and had been renovated in 1980’s with two-storey addition building at the rear yard. For present renovation, the whole interior of this house had been renovated, although the exterior untouched, restricted by landmark guidelines. The addition building also removed, and become simple garden.
New open structure interior of this two-story brick and wood frame single family house defined. A central volume consists of service spaces and is carved to reveal an open stair whose landing extends to form the kitchen counter. From the concrete floor, white oak stair lead us to upstairs, while laminated translucent glass become fences and clad the side-wall. The staircase decorated with pendant fixtures of different sizes hung at varying heights. A wall of cabinetry on the west compliments the stark gallery wall on the east.
